We typically try to avoid winter litters for my own sanity, but Roxy and Loki had other plans.  Suffice to say, this very well may be our one and only Christmas litter.  Grab up one of these furever fur babies for under your Christmas tree this year.  The smiles, laughs, cuddles, loyalty and adventures will last a life time.

Choosing Your Newfypoo Puppy – Our Process:
  • Those on our paid deposit list are notified first of the birth of our newest litters, followed by those on on our free notification list.
We then announce it to the public on our website, facebook page and instagram.
  • We have regular videos and pictures throughout the weeks so you can watch the puppies grow and mature.
Some on our public pages and some in our private group that is designated for only our puppy families.
  • Those on our paid waiting list are kept up to date with milestones and what we’re doing to help prepare them for their future homes.
  • At 4-5 weeks old, we hold a puppy visit day.  This is a day to visit and love on the puppies.  This is an optional event if travel/time constraints allow you to visit, we would love to meet you.
Puppy choosing happens after the puppy snuggle day.
It’s a great way for our wait list to get to meet the puppies and also give the puppies a great socialization experience.
  • At 6.5-7 weeks old, we personality test and write up explanations of each puppy.
This gives a snapshot look at your puppies personality and guidance into training him once you get him home.  Puppies mesh very well to their new family’s personality.  If you’re up beat and active, your pup will keep up with you.  If you are laid back and quiet, your pup will mesh with that as well.
  • We hold a special “Puppy Gotcha” day event shortly after the puppies are 8 weeks.  This includes meeting other puppy families, hanging out and bonding with your puppy before you hit the road and having a lesson from a dog trainer followed by a Q&A where he is available for any questions.  The event is a come & go event as your travel plans need.  It’s meant as a resource and it is not mandatory to stay for the entire event.

Puppy Updates

Week 1
It’s mamma’s job to keep them fed, warm and clean.  They need stimulated to go to the bathroom, and the mamma’s are pros at that.  Their little whines and cries are adorable and they love snuggling with their mamma and their siblings.  They cannot yet regulate their heat, so the heat lamps are helping with that (since it’s wintertime – summer litters don’t need the lamps).  They can move closer or further away as they need.  We have started ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) on the pups when they were 3 days old.  This will continue until they are 16 days old.  This will help stimulate their immune system, digestive system, and cardiovascular system to be strong.  If you’d like to see how that is done CLICK HERE to go to our youtube channel.  We expect another week of snuggles, sleeping, eating and cleaning before their eyes and ears start to open.

Week 2
Eyes will start to open this week, usually between day 10-14. They are wobbly and wiggly and oh-so-adorable!  Their squeaks and cries for mamma go on and off all day.    They are as happy as can be to just snuggle with mamma and nap the day away.  They will have their first nail clipping, and we try to do this while they sleep.    ENS will end at day 16.  They will start to move away from their sleeping area to potty.  This is our sign to place a litter box in their pen, right next to their bed.  They will accidentally end up in the litter pan when they move away to potty and it will soon become habit.  This will make going to their new homes much easier.  This is especially nice for those who work and need to keep their pup in a play pen during the day or for those in apartments and worried about making it outside in time until they are able to hold it a little bit longer.

Week 4-6
Things have been bustling!  The puppies have gone from wobbly legs to full out running and playing….although they still have awkward tumbles which make us laugh.  They catch on to the litter tray very quickly.  At 6 weeks old they are 100% pooping in the litter box and 90% peeing.  Many times the peeing misses are because they stick their front too feet in the box and think they are in.  Close but no cigar. It’s very cute.  They are regularly taking naps in their crates, which will make it easier when you take your puppy home.

We start clicker training, resource guarding and manding with the pups.  We have quite a few on our youtube channel.  The puppies are quickly catching on that they get pet and loved on when they sit and quiet.  Jumping & biting is ignored and they are learning that does not get the results that they are desiring.

Any nice days, we have the puppies outside! Running, jumping, rolling, playing, sniffing and finding leaves and sticks are a highlight.  Peeing and pooping in the grass is so important at this age, because we want them to associate the grass the with appropriate place to relieve themselves.

Pups are  usually nursing only one time a day now and are eating 3 meals a day of their dry puppy food.  No more mash! – The puppy teeth are fully in!  With their teeth being in, it is a lot of fun to watch them chew on their toys and play tug of war.  When they start to chew on us, we direct them to a toy so they start to understand there are appropriate things to chew on and other things are not.  At this age, it’s very easy to make positive steps forward in appropriate behavior because the puppies brain is so supple.

This coming week we will personality test the puppies and the families on our paid deposit list will choose their puppy.  This is such an exciting week!
